The Brooklyn Nets extended the NBA’s current longest winning streak to eight games Friday night with a 118-100 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.  Brooklyn got a balanced attack with six players scoring in double figures.  They led by 13 points at halftime and when Ben Simmons hit a 5 foot shot in the paint with 5:50 remaining in the third quarter it gave the Nets their largest lead of the game.  Simmons finished with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, and three steals, while Kevin Durant had a team high 24 points. His counterpart on the opposing side Giannis Antetokounmpo finished with 26 points. Brook Lopez, who is the all-time leading scorer in Nets history, had 23 points for Milwaukee.

These two teams became instant rivals two seasons ago when the Bucks outlasted the Nets in the Eastern Conference Semifinals on their way to winning the NBA Championship. Milwaukee beat Brooklyn earlier this season and the teams will play twice more. The Nets have survived what was an early season storm and now have a record of 21-12 and are just two games behind the top spot in the Eastern Conference. They next play in Cleveland on Monday night.
