Like so many of us New Yorkers, I found myself on the edge of my seat watching Game 4 of the NBA Finals. What a game!
The New York Knicks are now just one win away from bringing an NBA Championship back to the city after an incredible comeback victory over the San Antonio Spurs. In a game that came down to the final moments, the Knicks showed the grit, determination, and heart that carried them throughout this playoff run.
As I watched, I couldn’t help but think about how long Knicks fans have waited for a moment like this. From conversations in barbershops to discussions at work, church, and the streets, New Yorkers everywhere are talking about Knicks basketball again. The excitement is real. You can feel it.
For many younger fans, this is the closest they have ever seen the Knicks come to winning a championship. For those of us who remember the great Knicks teams of years past, this moment feels special. Madison Square Garden has become the center of the basketball world once again. It’s been 53 years since their last championship. Calling it overdue is an understatement.
The Spurs remain a talented and dangerous opponent, but the Knicks have placed themselves in a tremendous position with a 3-1 series lead. One more victory and New York can celebrate a championship many thought might never come.
The city is ready. Now it’s time for the Knicks to finish the job.
Go Knicks!
