It’s college move-in season, and a new generation of Hillman students is settling into campus for Netflix’s upcoming “A Different World” reboot. The official trailer, which dropped on social media Monday, Aug. 17, has already sparked intense conversation online, with fans split between those excited for the series and critics unimpressed by the early look.

In the two-minute clip, audiences get a first look at several iconic returning faces, including Whitley (Jasmine Guy) and Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) as they drop off their daughter, Deborah (played by breakout star Maleah Joi Moon). Debbie Allen also returns to Hillman as academic advisor Dr. Langhorne.

Also reprising his role is Darryl M. Bell as Ron Johnson, who is dropping his son Shaquille (Cornell Young IV), a freshman football player and burgeoning NFL prospect, off at Hillman.

According to Teen Vogue, Shaquille and Deborah are childhood friends with a complicated romantic past. And based on the tension in the trailer, fans can expect plenty of messy young love on screen this September.
