The Giants will play their first playoff game in six years on Sunday when they travel to Minnesota to face the Vikings in a rematch of a game they lost 27-24 on Christmas Eve. Minnesota (13-4) are the NFC North Division champions and the Giants (9-6-1) enter as one of the three wild card teams in the NFC. Both teams have won all but two of their games by no more than eight points. The Giants have a talented defense and an offense led by scrappy quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Saqoun Barkley who rushed for 1,312 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022 after two injury plagued seasons.
This will be the fourth postseason meeting all-time between the two teams. The previous three came at Giants Stadium and took place in successive postseason trips for the franchise. In the 1993 season the Giants won 17-10 in what was the final home game in the careers of Lawrence Taylor and Phil Simms. In 1997 they blew a nine-point lead with under two minutes to go and lost 23-22, and three years later they beat Minnesota 41-0 in the NFC Championship game to clinch a berth to Super Bowl XXXV.
