An interception made by New York Giants Safety Jevón Holland kept the Tennessee Titans from scoring and saved his team as they outlasted their opponents 12-7 in the rainy Meadowlands Sunday afternoon.

“I was like let’s gooo!,” Holland said about his thoughts during the catch. “I was super juiced, and I thought ok let me take a knee.”
Holland caught Titans’ quarterback Cam Ward’s pass in the final seconds of the game and took a knee. New York kept afloat with clutch plays like this by the Giants’ defense and the ability of offense to score in the face of potentially limiting factors, with consistency from kicker rookie Dominic Zvada and leadership from (qb) Jameis Winston who stepped in for injured Jaxson Dart.
“Our kicker comes in there, our rookie kicker, in these kind of conditions, and kicks all those field goals,” said Giants Coach John Harbaugh. “I’m really proud of him for that.”
Zvada made 4 of 4 field goals in the win. The game was not perfect. Both teams faced challenges. Rain from the nor’easter storm, impacting the northeast over the weekend, reached MetLife Stadium.
The Titans received first, but fumbled during kickoff and the Giants jumped on the ball. New York punted in their first possession, but scored during their next. Winston worked toward the goal by handing off to running back Cam Skattebo and throwing to wide receiver Malik Nabers and tight end Isaiah Likely. He completed a 30-yard pass (his longest throw Sunday) to Skattebo moving the team closer to goal before Zvada’s first kick.
“He let the ball fly and I consider myself a playmaker so if the ball is in the air I’m going to go get it,” Skattebo said. “Shout out to him for giving his playmakers a chance.”
The Giants were on the scoreboard first, after a 39-yard field goal by Zvada with about 6:34 left on the clock in the first quarter. New York was ahead 3-0 at the end of the first quarter. Zvada added three more points for the Giants with a 27-yard field goal during their second possession in the second quarter. New York had the ball with about 41 seconds remaining in the quarter. Skattebo ran for 8-yards right before Zvada’s field goal to give the Giants a 9-0 halftime lead.
“I made the most of what I could,” Skattebo said. “I got down, called a timeout with 3-seconds left and we were able to execute. I trusted the kicker and knew he could get the job done.”
Zvada kicked a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter, giving the Giants a 12-0 lead to start the fourth. The Titans scored with about 5:35 remaining in the game as Ward connected with wide receiver Wan’Dale Robinson, on a 4-yard touchdown pass. Titans (K) Joey Slye’s kick was good for the extra point.
The Titans had an opportunity for a comeback victory. They trailed 12-7 and had possession with about 3:03 left in the game. Ward intended to pass to (WR) Elic Ayomanor when about 24 seconds remained, but the pass was intercepted in the endzone by Holland.
“Nothing but respect,” Coach Harbaugh said about Sunday’s win and Holland’s interception. “For Jevón to come up and make that play, for the defense to rise up and make a play to win a game. That’s really what’s required in this league.”
Winston started at quarterback for the first time since Dart was out following a knee injury.
He completed 14 of 22 passes for 118 yards, threw no interceptions and was sacked three times. Ward finished 23 of 36 for 181 yards, threw one interception and was not sacked.
The Titans have also experienced their own transitions as they learn from each other. Former New York Jets Coach Robert Saleh was hired as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans on January 22, 2026. Coach Saleh hired former Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll as the offensive coordinator for the Titans on January 27, 2026.
Skattebo rushed 20 times for 60-yards.
“I think Scatt is a tremendous player and we’re definitely grateful to have him as our running back,” Winston said. “That’s how he comes to work every single day, and his energy, his dawg mentality, I really love it. So we trust him.”
Coach Harbaugh said Winston is anticipated to start again Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals.
