The Yankees’ woes continued as they dropped another series to their division rivals, the Baltimore Orioles, this past weekend.

Yankees ace and CYA favorite, Gerrit Cole, was stellar, in game 1 as he pitched 7 innings and gave up zero runs. Yet, the bats were silent once again and the Yanks were shut out 1-0.

New York had a much needed win in Game 2 behind strong performances from Aaron Judge (3-5, 2 RBI, HR), Isiah Kiner-Falefa (3 RBI, 2 BB), Kyle Higoshioka (3-4, 2 R, HR), and Giancarlo Stanton (2-5, 2 R, HR). The Yankees bullpen was strong, pitching 4 and giving up zero hits after Clark Schmidt’s decent outing.

Luis Severino had another nightmare performance in game 3, throwing 3.1 and giving up 9, as the Orioles won 9-3. His pitches were not moving, which has been a recurring issue, and his ERA in the month of July sits at a whopping 11.22. His season ERA is now at an abysmal 7.49.

The Yankees now sit in last place in baseball’s toughest division. One would only assume that the front office is scrambling to make some season-changing moves, but inside sources said it’s likely not much will change by August 1. The team now looks ahead to their important series against the dominant Tampa Bay Rays.
