Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks with 30 points and 9 assists, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the 27 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds of Ja Morant, as Memphis won 127-123. Though it was a tough loss for the Knicks, they competed far better than they did Friday night against Portland.

Still, Brunson was disappointed after the loss. “I say this all the time: my teammates and coaches have a lot of trust in me, they have welcomed me with open arms, and that hurts when you can’t pull through for them,” he said.

Brunson then went on to compliment the play of Morant, keying in on a pivotal play in the game. “For him to get that rebound after that shot was pretty incredible,” Brunson expressed. “He’s a special player, and they have a special team over there. They’re well-coached and have a hungry group. And so, you must give them credit where credit is due. We knew it was going to

be a fight, and we’ve got to find a way to win.”

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau had no problem with the ball being in Brunson’s hand with a chance to win the game. “That’s (Brunson’s) bread and butter,” he said. “He got where he wanted to be, had a good shot up, we missed.”

The road gets no easier Wednesday night for the Knicks, as they host Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.
