Time and Games Running Out for Nash and Nets

The Brooklyn Nets were blown out at Barclays Center by the Boston Celtics for the second time in February, but the biggest story is not who played, but who did not in the 129-106 loss.

Kevin Durant and Joe Harris are still injured, new acquisitions Ben Simmons and Goran Dragic have yet to play a game in a Brooklyn uniform and for now, at least, Kyrie Irving can’t play games at Barclays Center because of the vaccine mandate.

Brooklyn Nets head coach Steve Nash addressed the health and continuity concerns and the possible returns of those mentioned. “I’m sure it’s possible, but for me, it’s probably, again, in the next three games more likely than Saturday,” Nash replied when asked if it were possible that Durant would return Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

While admitting that both Simmons and Harris are further away from returning, Nash admitted that it is possible to see Dragic make his Brooklyn debut Saturday.

“I suppose it’s not out of the question,” Nash said. “I think in the next three games, there’s a good chance he’s out there.”

Brooklyn has all the talent to win it all but with 22 games left and a second-year head coach, the odds are stacked high against them.
