Brunson Latest Knick To Get Hurt

When the New York Knicks hosted the Atlanta Hawks Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, the question on everyone’s mind was, which player will get hurt next? How can you blame them. It began when center Mitchell Robinson was lost for the regular season after undergoing ankle surgery in early December. His back-up, Isaiah Hartenstein has played well in his absence but has missed 6 games dealing with a sore left Achilles tendon. All star forward Julius Randle separated his shoulder in early February and did not need surgery. The team is hoping he will return before the month is over. Forward/guard OG Anunoby underwent left elbow surgery last month and like Randle is expected to be back on the floor by the end of the month.

As if things could not get worse, guard and All Star Jalen Brunson, who was having a MVP type season, went down in the first minute of their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers last Sunday night. It was a non-contact injury after Brunson attempted a jump and landed awkwardly. He was helped off the court by teammates and did not return. X-rays were negative and the injury was described as a left knee contusion. Although he was listed as questionable, it would be a surprise if he was in the starting line-up.

New York had a 36-25 record after gutting out the 107-98 against Cleveland which had them in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. After the Hawks, the Knicks host Orlando Friday then host Philadelphia twice next Sunday and Tuesday. The Sixers, who are still without center Joel Embiid, are currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference. Embiid has started on court workouts and last played on January 30th. The team is 6-8 without him.
