Bad Turnover For Hall Hurts Jets

You couldn’t have picked a better October Sunday afternoon for football when the winless New York Jets (0-4) hosted the Dallas Cowboys (1-2-1) at MetLife Stadium. The Jets were coming off a loss against division rival Miami Dolphins last Monday night 27-21. Dallas and Green Bay fought to a riveting 40-40 overtime tie last Sunday night. First year head coach and former New York Jets player Aaron Glenn was looking for his first victory in the 2025 season.
Dallas won the coin toss and elected to kick to the Jets and quarterback Justin Fields wasted no time getting them on the board although they had to settle for a field goal as their red zone production continued to plague them. Fields got them down to the Cowboys 7-yard line and his attempted pass to Breece Hall fell incomplete. It resulted in a Nick Folk 25-yard field goal.
Dak Prescott and the Cowboys responded the first time they got the ball as they went 49-yards in 7 plays as Mr. Automatic, field goal kicker Brandon Aubrey, kicks a 35-yard field goal to tie the game as that’s how the first quarter would end. The second quarter would be the start of a complete horror show for Gang Green.
Dallas wasted no time getting on the board to start the second quarter. Prescott marches them downfield and 13 plays, 90 yards later tight end Jake Ferguson hauls in the 26-yard touchdown pass for the 10-3 lead. Both teams would exchange punts and it looked like the Jets would get back in the game on their next drive. Fields moved them down 54 yards in 8 plays when they committed their weekly turnover in a crucial situation. Running back Breece Hall gains 10 yards to the Cowboys 13 yard line when the ball gets punched out by Boys linebacker Marist Liufau and recovered by defensive end Sam Williams. Said Hall after the game about the fumble, “I felt like l cost us the game, so you you never feel good about that, especially being a competitve person. If l can’t take sare of the ball, l shouldn’t be in the game.”

7 plays and 91 yards later, Cowboys Javonte Williams scampers 5-yards for the touchdown for the 17-3 lead. The Jets offense sputtered the next time they got the ball going 3 and out giving the ball back to Dallas with 1:04 before halftime. Looking to stop the bleeding, the Gang Green defense watched as Williams runs 66-yards to the 1-yard line. Prescott finds Ferguson again for the 1-yard touchdown catch taking a 23-3 haltime lead.
Don’t let the fact that the Jets outscored Dallas 19-14 in the second half in the 37-22 loss. Prescott shredded the New York defense as he finished his day completing 18 of 29 passes for 237 yards and 4 touchdowns. Fields, trying to open up the offense, finished 32 of 46, 283 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was sacked 5 times.
“Highly disappointed”, began first year head coach Aaron Glenn. “Thought we had a really good opportunity. We were going into score. Get the fumble and it seemed like things went downhill after that. And that’s something we can’t let happen. I look at myself when it comes to that. Because it seems like the wind was let out of us in that situation and l got to figure out a way to get our guys going when things like that happen.”
This is the fourth time the New York Jets started the season 0-5 and the first time since to the 2020 season when they finished 2-14. In all of their losses, they have failed to force one turnover. Your not going to win many games without coming up with a fumble or interception.
It doesn’t get any easier for Gang Green as they travel across the pond to play the Denver Broncos in London. The Broncos stunned the undefeated and defending champion Philadelphia Eagles on the road coming away a 21-17 victory. Denver shutout the Eagles 18-0 in the fourth quarter.
The only saving grace for the Jets fans was that they were able to work on their tans on the very sunny, 80 degree day. Their team however, left the game with sunburns courtesy of Dak Prescott who was serenaded with chants of MVP as he left the field.
