For the second time this year, New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito, who started for the second time since the team released Daniel Jones got hurt when the Giants hosted the Baltimore Ravens. In the 35-14 loss, DeVito had to leave the game in the second quarter when he was slammed to the turf causing a concussion. DeVito completed 10 of 13 passes for 68 yards before the injury. New York failed to take advantage of an early Ravens turnover as quarterback Lamar Jackson (21-25, 290 yards, 5 touchdowns) fumbled on the Giants 12-yard line. The Giants, who ranked 4th in the league with the most 3 and outs, continued that trend when they went 3 and out on their first two possessions. The Ravens would jump out to a 14-0 lead before the Giants would get on the board cutting the lead to 14-7 in the second quarter as DeVito led them on a 13 play, 80-yard drive ending in a Devin Singletary 2-yard run.

That’s the closest Big Blue would get as they had to resort to Tim Boyle the fourth quarterback to go under center. Boyle finished his day completing 12 of 24 passes for 123 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 interception. Said Boyle, who began his NFL career in 2019 as a member of the Green Bay Packers, “It’s December football. And I get that. It’s a lot of injuries, unfortunately. But I’ve been a part of it, so it’s not something I’m super foreign to. But it’s in the job description of being a quarterback. You’ve got to be ready to go when your number’s called. It’s all hands-on deck. All three of us are ready to go at that point.”

The New York Giants lost for the 8th straight time at home and the fans continue to send the organization messages aside from wearing brown paper bags over their heads during the game. A plane flew over MetLife Stadium with a banner trailing earlier in the week which read: “MR MARA ENOUGH – PLZ FIX THIS DUMPSTER FIRE”. Before the game Sunday afternoon, a similar banner stated, “MR MARA ENOUGH – WE WON’T STOP UNTIL YOU FIRE EVERYONE.”

The New York Giants have three more games as they visit the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday. They play their last home game against the Indianapolis Colts December 29th and finish their season in Philadelphia against division rival Eagles January 5th.
