The Yankees took 2 out of 3 from the Padres this past weekend in the first series of their roadtrip. In game 1, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, and Giancarlo Stanton all homered for the first time in the same game, and they did it all in the same inning. On the mound, Carlos Rodon (6-2) earned another win, tossing 6 scoreless innings and leading New York to an 8-0 victory. Rodon, who produced a season-low 4 swing-and-misses, relentlessly attacked the zone in a testament to his growth as a pitcher. Yu Darvish has now given up 7 runs in back-to-back starts vs. New York.

In game 2, the Yankee pitching was fantastic yet again, as Marcus Stroman (4-2) and the bullpen held the Padres to 1 run. This was the 9th time in 12 games that the Yanks held their opponents to 2 runs or fewer, enroute to a 4-1 victory. Judge homered for the 4th game in a row, and 17th time this season, tying the major league high. In the final game, both teams were scoreless until the 6th. But in the bottom of the inning, the Padres erupted for 4 runs off the back of 2 Yankee errors. Clarke Schmidt (5-3) was pulled after giving up just one walk in the inning and New York could not climb back into the game, losing 5-2. Despite the loss, Anthony Volpe extended his hit streak to 19, the longest by a Yankee since Derek Jeter in 2012.

The Yankees are now 18-6 in May and look ahead to their series against the last-place Angels which began Tuesday night. They conclude the west coast trip in San Fransisco against the Giants.
