The Boston Celtics are going to the NBA Finals for the 24th time after completing a sweep over the Indiana Pacers with a 105-102 win in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics have won 17 championships in their history but have not won one since 2008, with losses in the Finals in 2010 and 2022. Celtics guard Jaylen Brown was named MVP of the Eastern conference Finals with an average of 29.9 points per game on a great 51% shooting. Boston’s other All-Star, Jason Tatum averaged 30.3 points on 46% shooting to go along with 10.3 rebounds and 6.3 assists.
Brown and Tatum now reach the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons. Looking to make good after winning Game One of the 2022 Finals, only to lose four of the next five games to lose the championship to the Golden State Warriors. “Learning from our experience, that playoff run was a lot of ups and downs,” Tatum said after Boston’s sweep over Indiana. “Obviously we fell short of the goal. Last year we lost in the conference finals, so I think we just applied everything that we learned to the season this postseason and it’s been working well.”
The Western Conference Finals between the resumed Tuesday night with the Dallas Mavericks looked to sweep the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Mavs took the first 2 games on the road and then went up 3-0 win the home win last Sunday night. Game 1 of the NBA Finals starts Thursday, June 6th in Boston.
