The New York Jets came from behind to win 20-14 over the Philadelphia Eagles delivering the Eagles their first loss of the season at Met Life Stadium last Sunday.

The Jets trailed the majority of the game, but pushed ahead in the fourth quarter to win and enter their bye week with a 3-3 record. Jets offense made their way down the field, Greg Zuerlein’s field goals kept them on the scoreboard and Jet defense made a big impact in the win. “Any given Sunday,” said Head Coach Robert Saleh about the win against the defending NFC Champions. “Like I said, four of our six corners were out this week. Even at the end, (with) Michael Carter II missing a lot of time in the fourth quarter, and the guys still pieced it together and managed to put together a good game.”

The Jets defense was without started Sauce Gardner, who was out with a concussion. New York defense was yet impressive as the two quarterback sacks, one forced fumble and fumble recovery, and three interceptions one by defensive end Quinnen William’s, the first of his NFL career.

Gardner recognized Williams’ interception tweeting: “Q got more picks than me🤣🤣🤣

Williams’ brother Quincy Williams led defense with 12 combined tackles and assists.

“They went to the super bowl last year, have a great roster, great coaches,(and)a great team,” said defensive tackle Solomon Thomas about the Eagles. “So to beat them just shows where we’re coming from and how good we are and how good we can be.”

“I thought our d-line was good in terms of keeping that kid in the pocket,” Saleh said. “He’s a handful (Jalen Hurts). Their o-line, their receivers, I thought our guys battled all the way through. Proud of them.”

Jalen Hurts completed 28 of 45 passes for 280 yards and threw three interceptions.  Zach Wilson completed 19 of 33 passes for 186 yards and threw zero interceptions. He was sacked five times. Wilson mentioned watching tape when asked if he thought there were plays where he held the ball too long. “I’m always trying to get it out as quick as I can for those guys up front,” he said. “They’re up there battling as much as they can.”

Jalen Hurts scored the first touchdown for the Eagles who led 7-0 going at the end of the first quarter. Zuerlein’s 43-yard field goal was ruled good to start the second quarter. New York’s defense got the ball back on the Eagles next possession as defensive end Jermaine Johnson went for a tackle deflecting the ball into the hands of Williams. The Jets were unable to get in the end zone and the Eagles scored on their next possession as Hurts passed to running-back D’Andre Swift for the touchdown. Two more field goals by Zuerlein gave the Jets nine points before halftime. Wilson connected with Bryce Hall and Garrett Wilson as they worked towards end zone in the third quarter, but was unable to get a touchdown. Garrett almost made a one-handed catch in the end zone in the third quarter, but the connection was broken apart by Eagles cornerback James Bradberry. “Yeah, I got to make sure that I’m making those plays when they come and I’m confident it will happen, because I do train at it,” Garrett said.

He led the Jets in receiving, catching 8 passes of 12 targets for 90 yards.  Zuerlein’s 38-yard field brought the score to 14-12 to end the third quarter.

Jets safety Tony Adams intercepted Hurts’ pass in the final two minutes of the game to get the ball back for the Jets. Wilson handed off to Breece Hall who ran for the touchdown. Wilson next passed to wide receiver Randall Cobb who completed the two-point conversion. “We needed that win and I thought all the guys kept fighting, everyone kept fighting,” Wilson said.

The Jets have a bye week before facing the Giants October 29th.
