Johnson’s 29 Not Enough In Game 2 Loss

Philadelphia – Tyrese Maxey scored a game-high 33 points, MVP-favorite Joel Embiid added 20 points and 19 rebounds, and the Philadelphia 76ers used a dominating second-half performance to topple the Brooklyn Nets 96-84 in Philly to take a 2-0 series lead in the first-round of the playoffs on Monday night.

Brooklyn, which led by as many as 10 in the second quarter, built a 5 point halftime lead aided by Cam Johnson’s, who finished with a team-high 29 points, 22 points in the first-half.

Brooklyn scored the first basket of the third quarter, but Philadelphia head coach Doc Rivers subsequently called a timeout and the 76ers seemingly took control thereafter as they started converting baskets, out-scoring the Nets 24-14 in the quarter. In the fourth, Philadelphia shot 47.4% from the floor while Brooklyn struggled, shooting 36.8% from the floor.

Brooklyn head coach Jacque Vaughn on the team’s play “we have to do it for four quarters, we did it for two.”

Mikal Bridges scored 21 points for Brooklyn in the defeat. Brooklyn has now lost 6 straight playoff games to Philadelphia.

The Nets come to Barclays Center for games 3 and 4 of the series this Thursday and Saturday, respectively. They are hoping to win a game to avoid getting swept.
