Jones Late TD and 2 Point Conversion Not Enough

The New York Football Giants missed a chance to clinch a playoff berth with a 27-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis on Saturday afternoon.  New York almost pulled off the upset against a Vikings team that pulled off the largest comeback in NFL history, 33 points, just the week before.  The Giants began the game falling behind 10-0 before they scored 13 unanswered points and entered the fourth quarter with a 13-10 lead.  Minnesota outscored Big Blue 17-11 in the final quarter, capped off by a Vikings franchise record 61-yard field goal by Greg Joseph at the end of regulation.

Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson caught 12 balls for 133 yards and a fourth quarter touchdown. In the process he broke Randy Moss’ single season franchise receiving yards record of 1,632. The Giants got 133 all-purpose yards and a score from running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones finished with one touchdown and one interception.  The Giants will get their next chance to clinch their first playoff berth in six seasons this Sunday when they host a 4-10 Colts team.  The same Colts team that was on the other end of Minnesota’s historic comeback two weeks ago.
