A jury cleared a Mississippi man of all charges last week in the hit-and-run death of a 10-year-old boy last April.
Details on Jordan Hill’s death and the charges against Cody Rollinson
Cody Rollinson, who is white, was acquitted on Jan. 15 in connection with the April 6, 2025, death of 10-year-old Jordan Hill in Liberty, Mississippi. The young boy was riding an all-terrain vehicle when Rollinson hit him with his truck, the Natchez Democrat reported.
When police arrived, Hill was dead at the scene. Rollinson admitted that he left the scene because he didn’t have cell service to call 911. He was later charged with aggravated DUI and felony leaving the scene of an accident. Rollinson was freed after posting a $41,000 bond, according to the Atlanta Black Star.
A now-viral video on social media appears to show Rollinson spitting while being escorted through the Amite County Courthouse parking lot before the verdict, after a woman off-camera asked if he had any words for Hill’s loved ones.
“Justice for Jordan,” the woman yelled. “He spit on the family. There’s no remorse!”
‘I’m still crushed’
Hill’s mother spoke out after hearing the heartbreaking verdict about her son’s death.
“Shocked. I was shocked because you have all this evidence – evidence, facts – and it still was found not guilty,” Wanda Brown, Hill’s mother, told WLBT.
Despite Rollinson walking free, Brown still has faith she will get justice for her son.
“Right now, I’m still crushed but, somehow, I still have faith in the justice system,” Brown added. “I just felt that this justice system here just failed us because they had all the evidence. It was all presented in front of them. They had it. I don’t understand why and how this could even happen.”
