On Sunday, Timothy Carter, 28, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder after he allegedly stabbed a Black man as he was working at a Walmart in Rockford, Ill., according to FOX 2 Now.

Jason Jenkins, an 18-year-old student at Auburn High School in Rockford, was killed in the attack.

Surveillance video at the Walmart shows Carter, who is white, grabbing two knives from shelves and walking around the store while “giving all of the African American people dirty looks,” according to FOX 2 Now.

When Carter saw Jenkins, he approached him from behind and stabbed him in the lower back. A witness claimed to hear Jenkins screaming for help as he was being attacked. He died from his injuries at a nearby hospital later that day.

A witness who was at the store during the attack told local police that she heard Carter yell a racial epithet after he stabbed the teenager, but there are no details on what exactly Carter said.
