The Knicks had their worst shooting night of the season as they gave one back to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday night in a 79-73 defeat at Madison Square Garden. It was the first time since 2016 where two teams scored under 80 points in a game and the 73 points were the fewest points scored by any team all season. This after the Knicks held Orlando to 74 points last Friday night. The game was one of the more disappointing losses of the season because the Knicks beat the Sixers in Philadelphia convincingly twice. With Philadelphia’s two All-Star’s, Joel Embid and Tyrese Maxey out of the lineup Sunday night it was brutal losing to them on their homecourt.

With 18 games remaining the Knicks hold the 4th spot in the Eastern Conference and hold just a one game lead over Philadelphia who are in the sixth spot. “It was a physical hard-fought game, we came up short, our turnovers probably were the difference in the game,”  Knicks Head Coach Tom Thibodeau said about the Knicks postgame. The Knicks and Sixers played again Tuesday night at the Garden before the team headed west for four games.
