No LeBron James no NBA Finals. That’s the case for the Cleveland Cavaliers who remain a franchise that has only made the NBA Finals when they had the man that some believe is the greatest player ever. The three times in their history in which Cleveland reached the Eastern Conference Finals without LeBron on the team, they have lost. The most recent coming in their 4 game sweep at the hands of the New York Knicks over the past week.

Another Playoff Failure For The Beard

The Cavaliers fell to the Knicks 130-93 and were eliminated in game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals series. There star player Donovan Mitchell finished with a game high 31 points but his efforts were not nearly enough. Mitchell did get one monkey off his back this postseason and that’s the fact that he made it out of the semifinals round for the first time in his nine-year career. “As much as I’m grateful for overcoming something that’s been an obstacle for me personally the last nine years, there was an opportunity for us before that,” Mitchell said after the game. “We were up 22 and you lose, like that’s where my head is at. I mean yeah, I made the Conference Finals, woo-hoo. But we had an opportunity.”
After finishing with an Eastern Conference best 64 wins a season ago the Cavaliers once again have end the season in disappointment even if they made it one step closer.
