There are eight states currently filing a lawsuit against the Trump administration over an almost unbelievable issue, it’s decision to allow a Texas company to publish downloadable designs for a gun, to be made on a 3D printer. The states contend that these plastic weapons are too hard to trace, and threaten public safety. The suit asks a judge to block the settlement made by the federal government and Defense Distributed, which allows the company to release the blueprints online.

Officials claim that at least 1,000 people have already downloaded the design for AR-15 rifles. Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson made a statement on Monday, saying, “I have a question for the Trump Administration: Why are you allowing dangerous criminals easy access to weapons? These downloadable guns are unregistered and very difficult to detect, even with metal detectors, and will be available to anyone regardless of age, mental health, or criminal history.”

The states involved in the suit are Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Maryland, New York, and the District of Columbia.
