Soto Off To A Fast Start

For the first time since 2003, the Yankees have started the season 4-0. But it’s not just the record that matters – it’s the statement sweep over the Houston Astros, a team that has sent New York home empty handed in 3 straight ALCS meetings. That means the most.

All eyes were on the new star in the Bronx, Juan Soto, who performed above and beyond. He was named the AL Player of the Week, as he posted an AL high 9 hits to start the season, batting .529 and slugging .765.

The Bombers trailed every game of the series at some point, but were able to hammer the weak tail end of Houston’s bullpen. Soto’s timely go-ahead hit in the 9th inning of game 4 propelled the Yanks to the sweep, and perfectly symbolized his first series in

New York stardom.

It’s safe to say that this was exactly what New York needed, a ball club coming off a disappointing 2023 campaign. The Yankees now looked ahead to their series with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Bronx Bombers did something they have never done in their storied franchised history when they won their 5th straight game on the road against the Arizona Diamondbacks Monday night 5-2. It was the first time since 1992 year winning 5 straight games to start the year. It was the first time all of the wins came on the road.
