Cade 24 Points, 10 Assists In Win Over Brooklyn

The Detroit Pistons took control late to defeat the Brooklyn Nets 125–107 Friday night in their NBA Cup group opener Friday night at Barclays Center.
Brooklyn opened strong, jumping to a 14–7 lead behind Noah Clowney’s 12 first-quarter points, including four 3-pointers. The Nets led 29–27 after one, but Detroit found its rhythm behind Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson, who combined to shoot 14-for-24 from the field. The Pistons led 60–55 at halftime and never looked back.
Cunningham orchestrated the offense with ease, finishing with 34 points and 10 assists, while Jalen Duren dominated the paint with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
After the game, Cunningham credited the team’s focus and effort: “We just have to keep stacking wins,” he said. “It’s a long way to go, but it’s a good start.”
By the start of the final quarter, the Pistons had complete control. Despite a few resilient plays from the Nets, Detroit’s offense was relentless.
LeVert’s hustle stood out after he fell making a pass near the sideline — his teammates immediately ran to help him up, a testament to the team’s strong camaraderie and sportsmanship.
In the end, the Pistons’ balanced attack proved too much for Brooklyn to handle.
Said Nets head coach Jordi Fernandez of Cade’s performance, “we didn’t stop Cade and we didn’t stop the rollers. All of those things were hard to deal with. We need to understand, we need to be more focused. We need to be on point.”
The Nets dropped to 1-8 and look to rebound when they face the New York Knicks Sunday at Madison Square Garden. Detroit visits the Philadelphia 76ers the same night.
