Gardena’s 2026 MLK Parade Blends Star Power and Community Pride
*The beautiful Southern California city of Gardena turned up for the 43rd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and Celebration on Saturday, January 17, 2026. It was a joyful, high-energy tribute to Dr. King’s legacy—filled with music, movement, and a powerful lineup of special guests.
Celebrity Grand Marshals Tiffany Haddish and Brandon Jennings brought Hollywood and NBA flair to the streets. But it was Congresswoman Maxine Waters who reminded the crowd that activism, justice, and public service are still at the heart of the dream.

Congresswoman Waters, a beloved and longtime figure in the L.A. area, rode in the parade to enthusiastic cheers. She waved to families, greeted elders, and received standing ovations as she passed by.
Her presence emphasized the connection between Dr. King’s work and today’s ongoing struggles for justice, equity, and political power in communities of color.

Both were praised as “absolutely AWESOME” by attendees and organizers. And yes, it was all caught on camera—thanks to filmmaker Keith O’Derek of Upfront Productions.
