RJ Picks Up Knicks After Randle Ejection

Since suffering an embarrassing defeat to Luka Doncic and the Dallas
Mavericks Saturday, December 3, the New York Knicks have strung
together four impressive wins.

New York jumped on Sacramento early and often, going up double-figures
at the end of the first quarter and never allowing the Kings to cut it
to less than 10 in the final three quarters.

After scoring 27 points in the first half, Julius Randle was ejected
in the third quarter when he received two technical fouls. RJ Barrett
picked up some of the offensive load in his absence, scoring 15 in the
second half to also finish with 27.

Jalen Brunson left the game with an ankle injury and did not return.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau discussed the win and the most recent
improvements on both sides of the ball. “I thought we had good intensity, good energy
on both sides of the ball,” he said about the start of the game and the continued energy
throughout. He also discussed the impact two young Knicks are making
on the defensive end of the floor.

“I think Quentin [Grimes] and Deuce [Miles McBride] have added a lot,
but I also don’t want to take away from what the other guys have
done,” he expressed. “I think when you start digging into the numbers,
you see it’s pretty good. I think we’re second in the league in field
goal percentage. We’re fifth or sixth in three-point field goal
percentage. We’re top 10 in rebounding margin. Points in the paint,
it’s top five. Those are markers to me about the defense.”

The Knicks play a rare back to back games against the Chicago Bulls on
The road Wednesday and Friday.
