On August 30, 2019, the music industry lost Grammy-nominated recording artist Ricardo Monte’ Lewis a/k/a “Cutty Cartel.” He passed away at the age of 44.
Official details of his death have not been released.
In the past years, Cutty Cartel has been continuing to work throughout the Atlanta music scene on an executive level and with International Artists worldwide. As he was enjoying time with his loved ones on August 29, 2019, he started not to feel well and informed his mother he was going to go lay down and rest. He spent his last moments laughing and spending intimate time with close members of the family, and later in the day, was rushed to Emory Dekalb Medical where he was treated for cardiac arrest.

Cutty Cartel, Jim Crow (Attic Crew) band member, was also a film producer, author, photographer, videographer and director. He is most known for his feature on Youngbloodz hit single 85, and also for his Grammy nomination on legendary artist Big Boi debut solo single “Shutterbugg.”
Cutty Cartel had a book, new music and several other projects in the works at the time of his transition.
In an official statement from his mother Phylis Lewis, “I am thankful for all the love and support from family and long-time friends, I am at peace.”
