After a 50- and 51-win season the last couple of seasons the Knicks have championship expectations in a city that has not seen them win one in 53 years. The Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season for the first time in 25 seasons. But lost games one and two of the series to Indiana at Madison Square Garden which led to them being upset in the series in six games. This, a year after being blown out by Indiana in game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on their homecourt. That caused Tom Thibodeau to lose his job.
New Head Coach Mike Brown brings years of coaching experience to the head position, having been Lebron and Kobe’s head coach, along with being an assistant under Steve Kerr on the warriors over their four-championship run.
Knicks began the season Wednesday night at home against Cleveland, who they did not beat last season. “It’s a good test, an early test. It makes us better,” says Knicks All-Star big man Karl Anthony Towns. “I think both teams would agree and say the same. That when you get to go against the best of the best you get to see where you stand.”
