Miami, Fla. – Well, no one expected the New York Knicks to go undefeated this year. They won all of their preseason games and won their first 2 regular season games at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics last Wednesday and Friday. Sunday, they faced the Miami Heat feeling good about themselves. In the end however, the Knicks had no answer for the Heats Norman Powell who finished the game with 29 points in the 115-107 win. As usual, New York’s guard Jalen Brunson did all he could leading all scorers with 37 points. His supporting cast came up short as OG Anunoby (14) and Karl-Anthony Towns (15) were 10 of 27 from the floor. Miami’s bench was a big factor as they combined for 37 points with Jaime Jaquez Jr scoring 17.
“It was a competitive spirit from our guys” said Miami’s head coach Eric Spoelstra. “We saw that in the Orlando game. Guys are committed to that.”
First year Knicks head coach Mike Brown pointed out pointed out the team lost the possession game. “We’re really big on the possession game. It’s the first time we lost all year. Obviously, they are a good team on their home floor. When you lose the possession game, it cost us tonight. “
The Knicks look to regroup when they played the Milwaukee Bucks Tuesday night and the Chicago Bulls Friday night. They return home Sunday, November 2nd to face the Bulls again.
