The New York Football Giants stunned everybody with a resounding 34-17 win over the reigning Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles in front of a nationally televised audience and their home crowd at MetLife Stadium last Thursday night.
It was a performance so spectacular that it makes you wonder if this team could be special for a while after more than a decade of losing football. There are two reasons for this sudden jolt in confidence: rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and rookie running back Cam Skattebo. Dart threw for 198 yards and a touchdown and he also ran for another score. Skattebo ran for 98 yards and three touchdowns.
“We hear what people say and it definitely lights a fire in us,” Dart said after the game. “Me and Skat talked about last week, we felt like it was kind of just like on us, kind of losing that game. We felt like we moved the ball just fine so our biggest emphasis was to make sure that we take care of the ball.”
The spark that the two rookies has given the team can easily be seen and it has spread throughout the rest of the team.“I feel it but there is a spark that comes from a lot of guys too,” said Cam Skattebo. “He does a great job being a general on the field.” He said of Dart. Giants are now 2-4.
The Giants will see if the momentum will carry over this Sunday when they travel to Denver (4-2) to take on the Broncos who just got by the winless (0-6) Jets 13-11 in the game played in London.
