Porter’s 28 Not Enough In Loss To Miami

The Brooklyn Nets lost to the Miami Heat on Thursday night at Barclays Center 106-95. Miami was led by the team-high 24 points from guard Norman Powell. Center Kel’el Ware had 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Jaime Jacques came off the bench to score 19 points for Miami. Brooklyn’s Michael Porter Jr. had a game-high 28 points but he shot just 10 of 24 from the field and 5 of 14 from three-point range. Also, in the losing effort, Nic Claxton had 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 8 assists, 3 steals, and two blocks. Rookie Egor Denim was the only other Net who scored in double figures.
It was a physical game where the Nets were called for 17 fouls compared to 12 called on Miami. Miami made 15 of 19 free throws while the Nets took just 11 free throws and made 8.
“I thought for the most part they called a good football game out there because it was not basketball,” Nets Head Coach Jordi Fernandez said of the officials after the game. “It was physical on both ends, and I’m happy with that. I think that we drove enough times that we should have got the same amount of free throws, but it is what it is.”
Nets are now 7-19 on the season and host the Toronto Raptors (17-11) Sunday 6pm.
