*When “Black Panther 3” eventually arrives, it may carry more Oscar recognition than any previous Marvel film.

The upcoming threequel brings together an extraordinary group of Academy Award winners, with at least seven expected to contribute both on screen and behind the camera. According to The Direct, no other MCU franchise comes close to matching that level of collective acclaim.

Ryan Coogler, the creative force behind all three films, returns to direct and write the screenplay. The 2026 awards season marked a personal milestone for him, as “Sinners” earned his first Oscar win for Best Original Screenplay after five career nominations. His “Sinners” collaborator, Michael B. Jordan, is also involved in “Black Panther 3.” Jordan, who first appeared in the franchise as the villain Killmonger and briefly returned in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” claimed the 2026 Best Actor trophy for his dual portrayal of twin brothers in that film.

Lupita Nyong’o is expected to reprise her role for the third film. She joined the MCU already carrying Oscar honors, having won Best Supporting Actress in 2014 for “12 Years a Slave.” The most talked-about newcomer is Denzel Washington, whose distinguished career includes Academy Awards for “Glory” and “Training Day.”

The team behind the camera is equally impressive. Ruth E. Carter, who won Best Costume Design for both previous entries, is expected to bring her signature vision to the third film. Hannah Beachler, who took home Best Production Design for the original film, is anticipated to return alongside composer Ludwig Göransson, a three-time Oscar winner for Best Original Score.

The first two films grossed over $2 billion globally and feature the most award-winning team in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
