Not The Season Aaron Glenn Expected

The saga that was the New York Jets 2025-26 season came to sad ending Sunday when they traveled to Buffalo to play division rival Bills. In losing 35-8, Gang Green managed to do something that had never been done in the history of the NFL. The Jets finished the entire year without coming away with one interception. This from a organization who hired ex-Jet Aaron Glenn who played cornerback for them from 1994-2001. At the end of his career, Glenn totaled 41 interceptions, 24 as a member of the Jets. That Jets defense didn’t translate to this year’s team and cost their defensive coordinator Steve Wilks his job who never made it out his first year.
This past Sunday, Buffalo sat many of their starters as they prepare for their Wild Card playoff game as the number #6 seed when the travel to Jacksonville to face the #3 Jaguars. Buffalo scored the first 38 points before the Jets would get on the board. Bills back-up quarterback torched the Jets defense completed 22 of 29 passes for 259 yards and 4 touchdowns. Back-up running backed ran roughshod over the paper mache defense gaining 151 yards on 21 carries. Offensively, the Jets were offensive. Starting quarterback Brady Cook looked like a high school quarterback as he completed only 11 passes on 22 attempts for a pathetic 60 and 1 touchdown. Oh, he did throw 1 touchdown.
Glenn put the loss and the season all on himself. “I let the players down. I let the organization down, and that burns me, it really does,” Glenn said. “This was not expected, where we are this season, and I understand that. But here’s what I do know: I know the reason why I came here, and I am not going to waver from my beliefs on what I think wins games in this league. I’m very confident in myself, I’m very confident in this organization, I’m very confident in our owner, I’m very confident in [general manager Darren Mougey], and we’re going to work our ass off to get this s— exactly where it needs to be. I do know that.”
With the loss, the Jets will have the number 2 draft pick in the 2026 draft. 2 picks in the first round and 2 picks in the second round. The team traded 2 of their most talented players right before the deadline. Cornerback Sauce Gardner was traded to the Colts and defensive tackle Quinnen Williams was traded to the Cowboys.
Owner Woody Johnson and General Manager Darren Mougey (hired before Glenn) will have their work cut out for them as the team has many holes to fill.
