Tatum Returns To MSG

The New York Knicks and Boston Celtics play for the fourth and final time of this regular season on Thursday night. These two teams met in last season’s Eastern Conference Semifinals where the Knicks stunned many and beat the Celtics in six games. Boston entered the series as the reigning NBA champions and they saw their best player Jason Tatum tear his Achilles tendon. Many believed Tatum would miss this entire season, as most players who suffer that type of injury are sidelined for an entire year.
The Celtics however, behind co-star Jaylen Brown’s 28.7 points per game, 7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists this year have had a strong season without Tatum, to the point where he opted to return to the court this March as the Celtics were still in contention, owners of the second best record in the Eastern Conference when he returned in early March. They enter Thursday’s meeting with the Knicks firmly in the number two position in the Eastern Conference with the Knicks holding on by the skin of their teeth to the third spot. The Knicks have beaten Boston in two of the first three meetings between the two this season.
lt will be the return of Celtics forward Jayson Tatum who will be making his first appearance at Madison Square Garden this season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in the playoffs against the Knicks last May. Since his return, the Celtics are 12-2 and are on a 6-game winning streak. Boston hosted the Charlotte Hornets Tuesday night.
