Both the New York Football Giants and the New York Jets continued their losing ways last Sunday. Big Blue hosted the Minnesota Vikings falling 16-13 as rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart had his worst game of the year. By games end, Dart threw for a pathetic 33 yards, completing 7 of 13 passes and 1 interception. The defense gave the Giants a brief 13-10 lead when linebacker Brian Burns sacks Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy forcing the fumble. Safety Tyler Nubin scoops up the ball and scampers 27-yards for the touchdown. The offense would only add one field goal the rest of the way.
Said Dart afterwards about the very conservative game plan,”l trust the coaches game plan each week. You have conversations and my job is just to go out and execute the play that’s being called.
In losing their 9th straight game, the Giants are putting themselves in the position of getting the number 1 pick in the 2026 draft. They travel to Las Vegas Sunday to take on the equally sorry Raiders who lost to the Houston Texans 23-21 as their record fell to 2-13.
Things were not any better for Gang Green who were on the road against the New Orleans Saints. It was a tale of 2 halves for the Jets as they only trailed 9-6 after the first 2 quarters. Unfortunately, they not only were shutout in the second half, they saw the Saints march all over them giving up 20 points in the 29-6 rout. Jets quarterback Brady Cook threw for 188 yards, completing 22 of 35 passes and 1 interception.
The Jets defense made New Orleans quarterback look like an all pro. Tyler Shough completed 32 of 49 passes for 308 yards and 1 touchdown. Said first year head coach Aaron Glenn after watching the team record to 3-13, “l asked our players to play with effort. I thought our guys did that. I thought they went out there and they fought hard. they did everything they could to keep us in the game. There’s a couple of things from an overall perspective that we have get better at.”
The Jets host division rival New England Patriots (12-3) who took out the Baltimore Ravens
28-24.
