In his latest attempt to seemingly rewrite Black history, President Donald Trump quietly removed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth from next year’s calendar of free entry days at national parks. In their place, Trump ironically added June 14th— his own birthday. Given the administration’s recent history of targeting Black holidays, you better believe Black folks let him have it on social media after the news dropped.

“They’re erasing civil rights history to celebrate… him,” @allenanalysis said on X. “Petty, vindictive, and exactly on brand.”

@covie_93 wrote, “Do you understand how racist a person must be to remove free access to National Parks on holidays honoring Black people while making it free on his birthday????”

“I know a racist when I see one,” @SirTreyDay tweeted.

In addition to Trump’s birthday— also Flag Day— the new fee-free calendar also includes the 110th anniversary of the National Park Service (NPS), Constitution Day and President Theodore Roosevelt’s birthday. According to NPS, the calendar is set to start on Jan. 1, 2026.

Former Ohio Sen. Nina Turner tweeted, “The President has lost his damn mind.”

MLK Day has been honored as a national holiday since President Ronald Reagan’s era. Now, Black Americans are accusing Trump of being racist for not acknowledging the day. “Literally no other reason for this except racism lol,” @price0fwoke said.

Journalist Dr. Allison Wiltz said, “In case there was any doubt left, the president is a racist.”

California rapper Ovrkast chimed in, calling the change a “Jim Crow era move.”

“And we wonder why casual racism has become so normalized,” @shlofolina tweeted.

“Removing an african american man who has had a stronger impact on humanity’s day in place of a white man who will be in office for another few years … when he could have added a day to celebrate himself …. okay ….. sure,” @pviols pointed out.
