While the New York Football Giants fan base  were reveling in seeing their team take sole possession and 1st place after bearing the Arizona Cardinals Sunday, the fan base of the New York Yankees, Liberty and Jets were numb after a weekend that saw them not come away with a win. The Yankees got swept in the first 2 games of the ALDS Against the Tampa Bay Rays. The Liberty lost game 1 of the WNBA Semi-Finals against the Atlanta Dream and the New York Jets lost their 4th straight game against the Chicago Bears.

The Yankees came into the series on a high as they dominated their hated rival Boston Red Sox outscoring 18-2 in the 2-game sweep. Starters Cam Schlittler and Max Fried shut down the Sox. Unfortunately for the Bronx Bombers, it didn’t translate when they went Tampa. They were shutout I’m game 1 as they were only able to come up with 1 hit against Rays starter D Rasmussen took a no-hitter into the 8th inning. With two outs, Yanks catcher Austin Wells broke up the no-no as he slammed a double down the right field line. He made the tragic mistake trying to stretch it into a triple easily getting thrown out. Wells broke( the cardinal rule: Never make the first or third out at third base in any inning. Game 2 was even worse as New York hoped that Schlittler could put together another solid. Through no fault of his own, Cam gave up only 1 run and game tied when the Yanks defense fell apart. In the 5-2 loss, they committed 4 errors (3 in the first inning). Tampa scored 4 runs in the 5th and_ never looked back. The Yankees limp back to the Bronx where games 3 and 4 take Tuesday and Thursday.

Like the Yankees the New York were coming off a series where they were sky high after making WNBA history as they became the first #8 team to beat a #1 seed taking out the Minnesota Lynx. The #4 seed Atlanta Dream was up next and the Liberty were confident they could win their 3rd straight playoff game. The Liberty gave the Dream a nightmare taking a 3-point lead halftime lead. New York could not hold on as Atlanta blitzed them in the third quarter outscoring them 32-15 in the 92-82 win. Game 2 took place Tuesday night before the series resumes Friday and Sunday at Barclays Center.

The New York Jets season is in free fall. They have lost their last 3 games after their season opening win against the Tennessee Titans and ex-head Robert Saleh. They host the Cleveland Browns Sunday at MetLife Stadium. In the 23-12 loss to the Chicago Bears, Gang Green the offense was non-existent. Quarterback Geno Smith completed on 8 passes for 115 and 1 touchdown. The running game was nowhere to be found. As Braelon Allen gained only 59 yards on 14 carries. He started in place of Breece Hall who was out with a quad injury. The Jets host the Cleveland Browns Sunday at MetLife Stadium. It’s getting very hot around second year and ex-Jets cornerback Aaron Glenn.
