Maxey Scores 30 In Win Over Knicks

After the Knicks successful run to the championship podium of the NBA Cup they have now lost six of their last eleven games. Beyond that they have lost their last four games. The latest of which came Monday night in Detroit in a showdown of teams who entered the night with the two best records in the Eastern Conference. After the Knicks were thrashed 121-90 at the hands of the Pistons, they no longer have the conference’s second best record.
The Pistons, now 27-9 on the season, hold a four game lead over the Knicks for the best record in the East. At 23-13 the Knicks have now fallen a half game behind Boston for second place.
Over the weekend the Knicks lost by twelve points to Atlanta last Friday night and they lost by eleven points to Philadelphia last Saturday night. Both losses were at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks have now lost to Philadelphia twice at home in the last two weeks. The two losses at home over the weekend come after they lost just twice at home this season before that. Before that the Knicks blew a big lead to San Antonio on New Year’s Eve against a Spurs team
who they beat in the NBA Cup Final.
“They just physically kicked our ass. There’s no if’s, ands, buts about it,” Knicks Head Coach Mike Brown said after the Pistons game Monday night. “We had 20 turnovers for 33 points, and they were into us the whole game. And then for us, we did it in spurts and against a team like that you can’t do it in spurts, it’s gotta be for 48 minutes and it’s as simple as that.”
The Knicks will try to end their four game losing streak Wednesday night at home against the L.A. Clippers before they hit the road for a four game west coast road trip.
