Giants Believe In Dart Team Needs Help

The New York Giants finished their season with back-to-back victories after a 34-17 win over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium.
The Giants’ defense started strong in the first half of the game by making stops and a fumble recovery by linebacker Bobby Okereke. Quarterback Jaxson Dart moved the ball down the field and receivers stepped up to make necessary catches, while rookie field goalkicker Ben Sauls came through for the team in clutch moments. “Ben has been lights out,” said Giants Interim Head Coach Mike Kafka about Sauls. “He’s been doing a really good job for us and then he had some opportunities with the extra points and the field goals early in the game to keep us up, and he was nailing them.” Sauls made four of four field goals and added two extra points in Sunday’s game.
Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott fumbled during the Cowboys first possession and Okereke recovered the ball, leading the Giants to score first after a 45-yard field goal by Sauls. Okereke was recently nominated by the team for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year award.
Sauls kicked a 35-yard field goal for the Giants at the end of the first quarter. The Giants trailed 10-6 going into the second quarter. Sauls kicked a 23-yard field goal for the Giants leaving 9:45 in the second quarter. Dart passed to tight end Daniel Bellinger for the Giants first touchdown of the game on the team’s second possession in the quarter. The Giants led 16-10 at halftime.
The Giants played Tyrone, the Erykah Badu song that was playing at the stadium. Dart found Tyrone Tracy in the end-zone for the touchdown of the third quarter. “They came out in man,” Tracy said about the Cowboys’ man-to-man defense during the touchdown. “We were preparing for quarters, but obviously a touchdown’s a touchdown. I’m just blessed that he(Dart) threw the ball.”
Tracy rushed for 103 yards, reaching 1,000 scrimmage yards for the second straight year. “Tracy’s a baller,” Dart said. “He’s a guy that can do a little bit of everything.”
Devin Singletary passed to Darius Slayton for a successful two-point conversion following Tracy’s touchdown. Sauls had his 4th field goal of the game, a 30-yard kick in the fourth quarter. Dart handed the ball to running back Devin Singletary who rushed for the Giants’ final touchdown of the game.
Prescott completed seven of 11 passes for 70 yards and back-up Joe Milton threw seven of 13 passes for 73 yards for Dallas. Dart completed 22 of 32 passes for 230 yards for New York. Giants QB Russell Wilson did not play.
“I’m just grateful for the Giants organization, grateful for John Mara and the Tisches, and just grateful to be around these guys in this locker room,” Wilson said when asked about his reflection on the season. “I still have a dream of pursuing a win of another Super Bowl.”
Wilson and Ciara’s “Why Not You Foundation” recently donated $3 Million to Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital.
The Giants finished the season with a 4-13 record and will have the 5th pick in the upcoming 2026 NFL draft.
