Winston Did His Part ln Loss To Lions

It is something New York Football Giants fans have seen all season. After they lost to the Detroit Lions on the road 37-24 in overtime, it was the 5th time they lost a game in which they were leading going into the 4th quarter. The Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll after they lost to the Chicago Bears in which they had a 10-point lead which extended their losing streak to 4 games. Sunday, after they lost, they fired defensive coordinator Shane Bowen. 

The Giants started Jamies Winston as rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart did not clear concussion protocol. Winston (18-36, 336 yards, 2 td’s, 1 int) did all he could to put the team in the position to end the losing streak. In the end, with Big Blue having a chance to extend the lead to 6-points and the ball on Lions 6, they elected go for the touchdown. Winston’s pass is incomplete giving Detroit the ball back. 13 plays and 53 yards later, the Lions sent the game to overtime when Jake Bates nails a 59-yard field goal.

It didn’t take long for Detroit to seal the win after winning the OT coin toss. Lions Running back Jahmry Gibbs takes the hand off and rumbles 69 yards for the game winning touchdown. New York had a chance to tie the game but the Lions defense suffocated Winston as the Big Blue got to the Detroit 27 yard line. The Giants record fell to 2-10. 

After the game Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers, out for the year after knee surgery, tweeted, “sometimes l think they b making us lose on purpose! Cause it’s no way, bro you throw the ball instead of running it to make em burn 2 time outs?? Then you don’t kick the field goal.??? Then they have to go down and score!!! Football common sense!!! Am l missing something? The tweet was quickly removed. 

The New York Football Giants downfall started week 2 when they lost In Dallas. They were up by 10 against the Lions with 10:57 left. Their fans have seen history repeat itself.

The Giants travel to New England to play the Patriots Monday night December 1st.
