Dart Has Been On The Mark This Pre-Season

The New York Giants upped their pre-season record to 2-0 with a 31-12 victory against the New York Jets (1-1) in their first home preseason game at MetLife Stadium.
Quarterbacks Russell Wilson, the Giants first round draft pick at No. 25 Jaxson Dart, and Jameis Winston, took their first snaps as members of the New York Giants and played in the first, second and third quarters, while Tommy DeVito returned to play a new season in the 4th quarter. The Giants scored first and kept the lead the entire game.
“This stadium means a lot to me, to be honest with you,” Wilson said about his first home game with Giants fans.
Wilson was nostalgic about the stadium. He and the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos to win Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands Feb. 2, 2014. Wilson started Saturday night and threw 4 of 7 passes for 108 yards. “To put on the blue and white, to be in this stadium as a New York Giant is a tremendous honor,” he said. “I love doing it with our teammates, to do that, and we’re excited about this season. We’re excited about where we can go.”
Wilson showed his arm strength early, as he completed an 80-yard pass to wide receiver Beaux Collins in the first quarter. Wilson later handed off to running back Devin Singletary a few plays later for a touchdown. Dart stepped into the game in the second quarter. He completed 14 of 16 passes for 137 yards, threw one touchdown and had one touchdown run.
“It felt good,” Dart said about throwing his first touchdown Saturday. “Me and Dulcich (Greg) were able to kind of have those conversations this week and get on the exact same page. So, it was sweet when it happened, and it happened exactly how we kind of prepared.”
Winston completed 6 of 11 passes for 110 yards, had one touchdown run and worked the ball close enough for a field goal.
“Did some good things,” Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll said about Winston. “I know there’s a couple plays that he’d like to have back. Moved the ball down, scored points, but we’d like to finish with touchdowns rather than field goals, but (he’s) another guy that’s working as hard as he can work and doing a good job in our system.”
Tommy DeVito went into the game in the fourth quarter completed 3 of 4 passes for 52 yards.
The Giants defense had 71 tackles and assists combined, while the Jets had 54 combined tackles and assists.
The Giants next face the New England Patriots Thursday night at home for their third preseason matchup. The end their season Friday when they host the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles.
