Newark NJ – The Alabama Crimson Tide want to be known for more than a football school. They came close to really nailing that point home. The University of Alabama made the Final Four for the first time in school history last season and came minutes away from doing it in consecutive seasons. They ran into a buzzsaw however, on Saturday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey in the NCAA’s East Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament.
The Duke Blue Devils were the opponent for Alabama and the Blue Devils rolled the Tide enroute to their 18th Final Four appearance. The previous game on Thursday night versus BYU, Alabama set an NCAA Tournament record by making 25 three-pointers. “Duke is a great team, we didn’t capitalize or our game plan as much as we wanted to,” said Alabama big man Aden Sherrell postgame. “Their defense is pretty good. They are highly ranked on the defensive side for a reason.
One game after making 10 threes, Alabama’s best player and first team All-American guard Mark Sears made just one three on five attempts and shot 2 of 12 from the field for a total of five points. “They did a good job of taking away our 3-ball and that’s something that we do really well at a high level,” Sears said.
