Rookie quarterback Daniel Jones was impressive in his first two career starts, but the Giants let the Minnesota Vikings jump out to a 10-0 lead and they never were able to catch the Vikings, losing 28-10.

The Vikings took an 18-7 lead into the half. The Giants forced a red-zone fumble by the Vikings, but Minnesota forced a Giants safety and regained possession. Other Giants miscues like overthrowing open receivers in the end zone and the inability of Jones to read the Vikings defense and the constant pressure from the defensive line made it an uphill climb for the Giants all day.

It doesn’t get any easier this Thursday, as the Giants face one of the league’s two undefeated teams, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in Thursday Night Football.

Vikings safety Harrison Smith played a great game, and Jones talked about his play after the game. “He’s a good player. Obviously has played in that system for a long time and knows what they are trying to do,” Jones said. “There were a couple instances where I could have done a better job controlling him with my eyes maybe, or seeing it a little bit better. You have to give a lot of credit to their defense. Like I said, we had opportunities but they deserve credit.

Second Year running back did not play (high ankle sprain) and as of Tuesday the team did not announce his status for Thursday night. Wide receiver Sterling Shepard, tight end Evan Engram and back up running back Wayne Gallman are in concussion protocol. It is doubtful they will suit up.
