The annual athletic showcase, the NBA All-Star Game, took place on Sunday night in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Instead of an East Versus West format the teams were chosen by team captains, the leading vote getters in each conference, Lebron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo.  The captains played very little due to injuries they were trying to manage, and Team Giannis defeated Team Lebron 184-175.  This was the six year the NBA played under this format and Lebron has been a captain every year.  This was the first time his team lost. Julius Randle made his second All-Star game in three years representing the New York Knicks and finished with 11 points for Team Lebron.  Kyrie Irving, who was traded from the Brooklyn Nets two weeks ago, and who won MVP honors in the game in 2014, had 32 points for Team Lebron in his eighth All-Star appearance.  His former teammate in Brooklyn Kevin Durant, who also has been traded, was voted to the All-Star team for a 13th time but did not play because of injury.  Boston Celtic Jason Tatum in his fourth All-Star appearance took home MVP honors finishing with 55 points and ten rebounds.
