Paul Makes Easy Work Over Chavez Jr.

When the celebrity boxing wave hit popular society, social media and boxing fans all over the world, it was just that, a celebrity thing. Somewhere along the way the line between celebrity boxing and boxing has been blurred, and the man largely responsible for that mixture is none other than controversial figure, Jake Paul.
While the fight held at the Anaheim Pond in Southern California was extremely underwhelming, what has unfolded since that night has been nothing but pure cinema. After leaving the ring last Saturday night, the lives and futures of both Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. have headed in completely separate directions.
Jake Paul suddenly has gained the thing he initially set out to achieve when first putting on these Celebrity Boxing fiascos, to be called a legit Boxer and to be placed in a situation to fight for a real championship fight by an officially sanctioned body within the sport. Following his 12-round pillow fight against Chavez Jr., Paul finally garnered the acclaim he had been so direly seeking, finding himself ranked No. 14 in the world by the World Boxing Association.
Many in the Boxing world are up in arms to see Jake Paul on the list and are crying out mockery sham and anger. No more than the man who lost his No. 14 ranking to Jake Paul and was pushed to No. 15, Craig Parker. “For him just to take a position that guys like me that struggled to find ways to the gym and…it’s a long road to be where we’re at. And for him to just be No. 14, it was just like a slap in the face,” Parker said.
For Jake Paul that victory may very well shamefully send him on a trajectory toward a possible shot at a title in the cruiserweight division. Paul barely belongs in the same gym as the current champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez, let alone the same ring. But for his opponent life has completely soured after a brutal loss in his “comeback” fight in front of the world and his legendary fighter, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Who finished his career with 107 wins and only 6 losses.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. graced front pages and headlines again just days after his snoozefest vs Jake Paul, but now for political reasons. Chavez Jr. was detained by ICE and his deportation back to his home country of Mexico was expedited according to the Department of Homeland Security, they were quoted as saying, “Chavez is a Mexican citizen who has an active arrest warrant in Mexico for his involvement in organized crime and trafficking firearms, ammunition, and explosives… Chavez is also believed to be an affiliate of the Sinaloa Cartel, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.”
No one within the inner sanctum of the sport of Boxing has a clue what is next for either of these polarizing figures in combat, but one thing is for sure, their careers are going in different directions. While Jake Paul has featured bouts on Netflix, the only thing we will see Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on is a possible documentary about failure and how far an apple can fall from a tree.
