The Baltimore Orioles could not get out of the Bronx fast enough. They had the New York Yankees on the ropes the first two games of the series only to come up short. Game three of the series was no different, except unlike the first two games, their defense betrayed them in the 10-5 loss.

Baltimore jumped out to 2-0 lead on James Taillon and the offense was having issues with O’s starter Bruce Zimmerman. Then came the 5th inning and Baltimore suddenly forgot how to play defense. Prior to the fateful inning, the Orioles let the Yankees off the hook by not adding more runs as they left the bases loaded and then committed 6 overall errors in the last 4 innings capped off by an Aaron Judge 3-run blast in the bottom of the 8th. The bullpen did give up 3 meaningless runs in the top of 9th as the winning streak reached 6.

Baltimore has to be kicking themselves as not only did they out hit New York (14-10) but left a whopping 21 runners on base.

So, the New York Yankees (13-6) take their winning streak and first place position over Toronto (13-7) to Kansas City (7-10) to face the Royals who are currently in second place in the central’ division. KC will throw southpaw Kris Bubic (0-1) while the grey clad Bombers send mustached Nestor Cortes, Jr (0-O) who has yet to get in the win column after his 3 previous starts. The upside is his 25 strikeouts in only 15.2 innings and a microscopic 1.15 ERA.
