*The mother of one of the Black Americans who was kidnapped by cartel members in Mexico is speaking out.

We reported previously that two of the kidnapped victims, Shaeed Woodard and Zindell Brown, were killed while the two survivors have been identified as Latavia Washington McGee and Eric Williamsaccording to CNN.

McGee was found uninjured and Williams suffered a bullet wound to the leg. Both were taken to a Texas hospital for treatment after their 4-day ordeal.

Barbara Burgess, McGee’s mother, was able to speak to her daughter on the phone from the hospital Tuesday. The woman said Latavia witnessed her brother’s death at the hands of the cartel.

“She’s alive. I talked to her. I talked to her. The nurse at the hospital called and let me talk to her,” Burgess told ABC15 News.

According to reports, Shaeed was McGee’s cousin, and Zindell was her brother. The group had reportedly traveled to Matamoros so McGee could have a tummy tuck procedure. But once they arrived, they were kidnapped at gunpoint by cartel members in Matamoros, Mexico on March 3.
