A wedding is already an emotional event, but one groom decided to take it to the next level and ask his fiancee’s daughters if he could adopt them during a proposal, Fox News reports.

According to Fox News, just minutes before Dontez Williams exchanged vows with bride Myshella Burton, Williams surprised guests by asking his soon-to-be stepdaughters, then 9-year-old Abigail and 8-year-old Natalie, if he could adopt them.

“You really become a man when you have children,” he said in a video, People tweeted. “Having someone to teach, protect, provide for them, discipline them, learn from them and support them. For all of these reasons, you’ve helped me become a better person.”

“I’ll never forget the way Abigail looked at me. It was priceless,” Williams told Fox News. “It really meant a lot to me seeing her face light up.”

“I know that I’m a father figure to you both. A young, quality dad,” he continued in a video that went viral on social media.

He then popped the question on bended knee.

“But I want to make it official and ask. Can I adopt you?”

The tears were overflowing, even more so after Abigail and Natalie accepted and bent down to hug their new dad.

Williams, Abigail and Natalie weren’t the only emotional ones. Several groomsmen who made a cameo in the video are seen wiping away tears.
