Omarion is bringing in the New Year by setting some things straight for his fans.
The singer recently appeared on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin Eve” celebration and addressed the high use of his name after people saw how similar it was to the new coronavirus variant, Omicron. Since the start of the pandemic, many people have been making jokes to get through the difficult and uncertain times of today.
As the world steps into year two of coronavirus, the jokes, metaphors and analogies continue. Omarion took part in the jokes during the New Year special, saying his “lawyers” asked him to speak to his fans to clear up any “online confusion.

Pulling out a piece of paper and reading from it with a wide smile, he said, “I, Omarion, am a musician and entertainer – you knew that – not a variant.” The father of two continued, “The last time I had to do this was in 2000 when everyone confused Y2K with B2K. That ain’t how it’s supposed to be, but seriously, I want to wish you all a happy and safe New Year’s. Peace.”
Omarion made two more videos that all preached the same message: that he is not a COVID-19 variant, but an artist and entertainer.
In another video, which he uploaded to TikTok, he said, “Hi everybody, this is Omarion. I am an artist. Not a variant,” he said while looking to the side camera. “So please be aware if you just so happen to run into me on the street you don’t have to isolate for five days nor do you have to have a negative test result in order to dance to my music. So please be safe; be healthy. Happy New Year.”
