Arlington Texas – Both the New York Football Giants and Dallas Cowboys were looking to rebound after losing week one to divison opponents. Big Blue looked inept in losing to the Washington Commanders while the Cowboys lost to the reigning Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles in a game they felt they should have won.
New York had not won in Dallas in 9 years (2016). Under head coach Brian Daboll, the Giants are 0-6 and lost both games last year by a combined score of 89-17. The losing team would fall to 0-2 with both losses against division rivals.
Prescott Throws For 361 Yards And 2 TD’s

The Cowboys won the coin toss and elected to kick off to the Giants. On their first possession, Big Blue kicked themselves in the head as penalties negated long gaines in the opening 2 drives as they could come away with Graham Gano field goals. Wilson had a solid first quarter competing 11 passes for 153 yards. Wide receiver Malik Nabers, frustrated after last week’s loss, caught 4 passes for 57 yards. The Giants defensive line stuffed the Cowboys offense not allowing one point.

Dallas finally got on the board resulting in a field goal cutting the lead to 6-3. Wilson responded by getting the team in the end zone for the first time this season connecting with Nabers on a gorgeous 29 yards touchdown pass to the back of the end zone.
The Cowboys trimmed the lead to 13-10 after a series of off setting penalties allowed Dallas 2 opportunities to attempt third down conversions. The second chance saw Boys quarterback Dak Prescott find wide receiver KaVonte Turpin for the 10 yard touchdown pass.
The third quarter started off promising for New York as Prescott’s second pass attempt, intended for Lamb is picked off by cornerback Dru Phillips on the Dallas 40 yard line. Wilson would get them down to the 10 needing only 3 yards for the first down. Instead of kicking the field goal, they elected to get the first down. They failed as Wilson’s pass to fullback Cam Skattebo went incomplete as he fell to the turf. It led to Dallas taking their first lead of the game.
Prescott leads them on 6 play, 90 yard drive ending in a Javonte Williams 30 yard scamper giving them a 17-13 lead. The teams would trade field goals before the end of the quarter as Dallas took a 20-16 lead. That’s when things became more interesting.
After a Dallas pass interference moved the Giants 25, Wilson is replaced by rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart making his first appearance of the young season. Dart lines up in the shotgun formation and hands off to Skattebo who rumbles 24 yard to the 1-yard line. Wilson returns and hands it off to Skattebo who takes it in for the 23-20 lead. Not to be undaunted, Dallas marches Down the field ln 10 plays, 85 yards capped off by a 4-yard touchdown run by running back Miles Sanders taking back the lead 27-23. Wilson responded finding wide receiver Wan’ Dale Robinson for a 32 yard touchdown catch giving New York another lead at 30-27. Dallas would not go away. Prescott takes them 71 yards in 11 plays finding wide receiver George Pickens for 6-yard touchdown reception and a 34-30 lead and looking like the game was a wrap.
Wilson and Nabers had other thoughts. 3 plays later, Nabers gets behind the Dallas secondary and hauls in the 48-yard Wilson bomb as New York regained the lead 37-34. Dallas gets the ball back with .25 seconds left needing to get into field goal position. Prescott did just that and then watched kicker Brandon Aubrey nail a 64-yard field goal sending the game into overtime.
Both teams had the ball in OT and failed to end the game until Wilson’s only blemish of the day their last possession. Looking deep for Naber who ran a route towards the left sideline, Wilson’s pass went up the middle of the field. Nabers attempted to track it down but it was intercepted by safety Donovan Wilson. 4 plays later, after a Prescott scramble gained 14-yards, Aubrey sent the frenzied home crowd with a game winning 42-yard field goal.
A clearly dejected and somber Daboll said afterwards, “this one hurts. The guys battled, Dallas battled. It’s gonna hurt for 24 hours. We came up short.” Wilson saw some positive things that came out of the loss. “The beliefs with the guys that we have, the belief on the sidelines.There have been a lot of noise and the guys did not flinch. I think that was the best part about today.”
So, the New York Football Giants fell to 0-2 with both losses coming against division opponents. Daboll has still not won a game against the Dallas Cowboys. Things don’t get any easier as they host the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday. The Chiefs are struggling as well as they lost Sunday to the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch. They are now 0-2.
