Don’t let the final score fool you. The New York Football Giants were totally out played by the New England Patriots in front of a national television audience 33-15 on the road at Gillette Stadium Monday night.
After missing the last 2 games because of concussion issues, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was under center hoping to spark the offense. It wasn’t the offense that betrayed him and the team. Before you could blink an eye, the Patriots were up 17-0 nothing. First, they drove down field resulting in a Andy Borregales 22-yard field goal. The Giants punted on their next possession only to see New England’s Marcus Jones burst 94 yards for the touchdown. The Big Blue offense sputtered again and Patriots quarterback Drake Maye drives them down 61 yards in 5 plays resulting in a 3-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.
The Giants attempted to get back in the game as Dart connected with wide receiver Darius Slayton on a quick 30-yard pass for the touchdown reception getting them within 10 at 17-7. The defense did it’s part getting the ball back as Dart got them within field goal range. Unfortunately, back-up kicker Younghoe Koo stubbed his toe on the attempt and never got the kick off.
The second half saw the Patriots out score the Giants 8-3 as they won their 9th straight game.
Said Giants interim head coach Mike Kafka after on his team’s effort after being down early, “all these guys that are stepping in big time, major roles, these are guys that we’re continuing to develop, continuing to grow, continuing to be pros. The standard that we have in our program are sky high and everyone is upheld to them.”
The New York Giants fell to 2-10 and next face division rival Washington Commanders December 14th.
